The South Australian Wooden Boat and Music Festival is hosting the First National PDRacer Championships.
The Festival runs from the 10 to 12 of March and is a Major Festival generally drawing around 15,000 people with hundreds of boats on the water.
It is very much a participatory festival with lots of shore and water based activity - as it is on the river the action comes up to within inches of the shore (and sometimes even closer!!!)
There will be a race on the Sunday and the Monday and other smaller races to be organised as well.
There will be at least 5 PDRacers there - with the opportunity to borrow a boat to try one out when they are not involved in events too.

Rigging Guide Pictorial for OZ PDRacers
While staying at the famous bitingmidge's place I have had the chance to put together a rigging guide for the OZ PDRacers.

Coincidently the information there will help most people set up their sprit rig a lot more neatly and effectively.
Generally the problem with getting a boat to go well is twofold. One is that it has to be designed properly. The other is that the sails are set up correctly and all the other bits work effortlessly.
We took quite a few pictures and I've also gone through to comment on each photo.
By the way if you want to experiment with a lug rig on an OZ PDR you can find quite a lot of information about lug rigs here. The main way that page will be wrong for a PDR is that most of the rope sizes suggested will be too big. Just reduce them one size according to the chart that lists the rope diameters.
